ChildrenWhat a blessing our children are! They are true gifts from our God. At First Baptist Church, we pay special attention to the nurturing and caring of each child that comes through our doors. We want every child to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and grow and mature in that relationship with their Savior.
We offer a number of programs for children here that are both educational and a whole lot of fun!
We have classes for children of all ages where they can learn about Jesus Christ and His love for them. Each class is lead by a group of teachers who are dedicated to sharing the Gospel with children and teaching them how Biblical principles relate to their everday lives.
All classes meet at 9:45 AM on Sunday mornings.
The Nursey class is for newborns up through 2 years-old.
The Toddlers class is for our 3 year-olds.
The Pre-K class is for children in preschool and kindergarten.
The Children I class is for children in 1st and 2nd grade.
The Children II classes are for children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
During the morning worship service, we offer a Children's Church program for children ages 3 through Kindergarten called
Wee Worship. We would love to have your children join us for these programs. For more info, contact Vicki Fletcher,
children's program coordinator.
Our AWANA program is the centerpiece of our children's ministry here at First Baptist. Over the last few years we have seen the Lord work in a powerful way in the lives of the children who participate in this program! In AWANA, our church joins with parents to work together in building spiritually strong children who faithfully follow and serve the Lord.
The AWANA program has finished up for the summer and will be starting back up in the fall.
You can find a link to the AWANA website on our "Recommended Links" page.
On Wednesdays we offer Team Hope for children and their families. We meet at the Damascus Middle School at 6:45 PM and enjoy a home-cooked meal, games and Bible study. For more informaiton on this ministry please talk to Pastor David Matlock or Ginger Holmes.
We also give children an opportunity to lift their voices in praise to the Lord by being part of our Children's Choir. Vicki Fletcher leads this ministry and helps the children in preparing special programs for Christmas and Easter along with occasional selections for Sunday morning services. We practice at Damascus Middle School on Wednesday nights at 6 pm. If schools are closed, we do not meet.
For more information on our children's programs you can call Vicki Fletcher at the church office: 276-475-3002 Monday-Friday from 9 am - 12 pm or on her cell at 276-492-8314.
